Passion for Cars is a novel written by Recaizade Mahmud Ekrem and published in 1898. Bihruz Bey is a snobby lad who is a fan of the French culture as the bourgeois youth of the period tended to be. He thinks that Turkish is a raw and inadequate language. It shouldn't be talked unless it's necessary. However, as observed across the children of high level officials and merchants of that period, he also doesn't have a good command of French and speaks a mix of Turkish and French. Adapted from the novel of Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem of the same name, the play can be considered to be a parody of "False Westernization".
