“Fatih” of Istanbul was commemorated on the 563th Anniversary of Conquest

Mehmed the Conqueror, the conqueror of Istanbul who ended an age and started a new age, was commemorated with prayers upon his grave.

The Conqueror of Istanbul was commemorated in the ceremony with participations of Mayor of Fatih Municipality Mustafa Demir, District Governor of Fatih Ahmet Ümit, Mufti of Fatih İrfan Üstündağ, District Security Director of Fatih Hakan Yılmaz, and district protocol.

After 53-day siege, Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II, deserved to be the commander who Muhammed the Prophet praised in his hadith: “Surely, Constantinople (Istanbul) will be conquered (by my community); how blessed the commander who will conquer it, and how blessed his army.” After then he has been called as Mehmed the Conqueror.

After vote of confidence in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım visited the grave of Mehmet the Conqueror. Mayor of Fatih Municipality Mustafa Demir and Governor of Istanbul Vasip Şahin greeted Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım in the entrance of Fatih Mosque. Citizens showed great interest on Prime Minister Yıldırım. Afterwards Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım prayed in the tomb of Mehmed the Conqueror.
