Fatih Municipality has been awarded in the field of 'Geographic Information Systems in Local Administrations' because of its studies on information systems. At the award ceremony held at Haliç Congress Center, Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir received his award from Mehmet Özhaseki, the Minister of Environment and Urbanization.

Fatih Municipality has been awarded in the field of 'Geographic Information Systems in Local Administrations' because of its investments made on information systems. Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir, who participated in the 'World Geographic Information Systems Day' event held at Haliç Congress Center, received his award from Mehmet Özhaseki, the Minister of Environment and Urbanization. After the award ceremony, Minister Özhaseki visited Fatih Municipality's stand and received information from Mayor Mustafa Demir about the studies they performed in the field of Geographic Information Systems.

“One of the studies that can be turned into the interests of the country”

Stating that the award is very meaningful for them, Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir said, “The award we have received today is a reward for the successful implementation of the geographic information system in local administrations. Geographic information system is an important application that we have been working on it for about 10 years, on which we have developed our own unique models but at the same time we can work online with other public institutions and organizations. The main reason for our success compared to others is that the project itself belongs to us. We are doing it with open source code and all codes belong to Fatih Municipality. When we consider it from this aspect, it is one of the studies that can really be brought together with the information and communication technology of time and space data and transformed into the interests of citizens and the country. In fact, it is an indispensable project of a local administration which is invisible, not very noticeable by the people to whom we serve, but in terms of increasing the quality of service, making extraordinarily quick decisions, and updating the information of application, transparency, interrogable and sharing. In this sense, we are very pleased that the award of using the geographic information system in the best way has been granted to Fatih Municipality among almost thousands of municipalities across Turkey.”
