After conquering this region, our ancestors started major reconstruction activities in order to islamicize this region and to make it the capital of our civilization quickly. I mean, this region has continued to develop with a long conquering movement. Within this period, many mosques have been brought to life. Of course, these mosques were damaged by earthquakes and fires over time. This mosque is one of them. Thank god, we have reunited the mosque with the community by the cooperation of foundations and Fatih municipality charitable. The important thing is the survival of the civilizations. The values should necessarily be experienced and transferred to the future to sustain civilizations.”

Mürsel Sarı, 1st Regional Director of Istanbul General Directorate of Foundations said, “The work we have opened today is a work made in 1499. It is a work made by Ahizade Cüneyd Tokadi hazretleri. It continued its activity as a mosque until 1918, but it was largely devastated by the great Fatih fire in 1918 and the rest of it was completely removed during road expansion studies and remained so until 1912. In 1912, projecting studies were initiated by signing a protocol between Ahizade Association and our Regional Directorate of Foundations. After projecting with the support of our Ministers of Culture and with the support of our Fatih municipalities, a charitable association has revived this building.”

From these to the selatin mosques, I hope we will start works in Blue Mosque as well as Beyazıt Mosque. We are really trying to be deserving of our ancestors by carrying out restorations in many works such as Yeni Mosque, Rüstempaşa Mosque in Eminönü and Cihangir Mosque.”
