The Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Health will be equipped with diskless computers with a million-dollar project. Hundreds of computers can be managed through a single server.

With Diskless Computer Systems Project (DISKNET), a project realized through the application of Entrepreneur Dr. Arif Okudum to Fatih Municipality Innovative Project Development Center, hundreds of computers can be managed through a single server. Within the scope of this million-dollar project implemented with TUBITAK Marmara Technocity Institute, The Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Health will be equipped with diskless computers.

Fatih Municipality’s Innovative Projects Development Center (YEPGEM), which paves the way for entrepreneurs, started to bring its first results. YEPGEM, which presented the project of entrepreneur Dr. Arif Okudum, who applied to the center with the Diskless Computer Systems Project, to the TÜBİTAK Marmara Technocity Institute, enabled the million-dollar project to be implemented. Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir signed the partnership project between Arif Okudum, the owner of the Diskless Computer Systems Project (DİSKNET), and TÜBİTAK Marmara Technocity Institute, in a ceremony held in the courtyard of Fatih Municipality service building.

With the Diskless Computer Systems Project, computers that are connected to the server can operate without a hard disk, and thanks to the system which also has enhanced-data security software, all the computers can be managed securely over one main computer. At the same time, data security is also provided and managed from the central computer that provides prevention from inconveniences such as loss of data and loss of money by avoiding adverse situations such as virus infections. Within the scope of the million-dollar project, firstly the Ministry of National Education will be equipped with diskless computers. Then the Ministry of Health will benefit from the project and diskless computers will come into service.

"You can run thousands of computers with a single server"

Speaking about the significance of the project, Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir said, “This project is one of the important steps, important results of the works carried out towards the work of the Innovative Projects Development Center (YEPGEM). Our main goal at the YEPGEM is to manage the ideas of the entrepreneurs and the implementation phase of their projects together with them, and help them and to facilitate this process for them. This project is based on the idea of running thousands of computers with a single central server created. What does this bring us, what brings it to the country; first of all, there is a hard disk in every computer, but there is no need for a hard disk in this system. Only a server is enough. Above all, you save $50 per computer for not using hard disk. In addition, this is also extremely important in terms of data security. Because, in this system, computers are not independent but running as connected to the server. You can get results much faster. It is a very important project for our country."

"A system that provides data security and prevents data loss"

Dr. Arif Okudum, designer of the project said, "Our project is a system that removes all the disks found in computers and able to operate from a single point without any additional hardware, completely without a disk. We manage the whole system by putting a single operating system on the server and control the data from a single point. What does this provide us? No costs for hard disks and virus protection programs which is highly expensive. The management of the system is also simple because it has only one single operating system. A system that provides data security and prevents data loss."
