Animal Shelter

Yedikule Stray Dog Shelter is established in Yedikule strand old gas tank district on a total area of 2000 m2. The centre also includes a landscape and promenade area of 500 m2. In the centre where 10 people work in total, clinical treatment and care, rabies observation and vaccination and neutering services are given for stray dogs. The total capacity of the centre is 1200 dogs. Our Stray Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre offers a different option with the campaign “Be The Protector Of A Dog” for those who cannot look after an animal their houses when they wish. It is possible to become the protector of one of the Dalmatians, Dobermans, Rotweillers, Wolfs, Kangals, Poodles, Terriers and Poodles and to take care of them, take them for a walk and even spend the weekend together without taking them home. In his statement, the initiator of the campaign titled “Be The Protector Of A Dog In the Shelter”, ITU Faculty of Mine Lecturer Prof. Dr. Orhan Kural said people wish to have an animal from time to time but when they see that it is hard to look after them, they leave the animals they buy in return for large amounts of money to the street. Prof. Dr. Kural notes that contributing to the care of the animals in the shelter, sharing things with them will make one very happy. The campaign is very popular, and many animal lovers come to the shelter especially at the weekend. The manager of the centre is the Architect Meral Olcay. In the centre with the capacity of 1200 animals, 10 people work, one of them being a veterinary. The records are still taken for those who would like to become a protector. We welcome the interest of animal lovers with pleasure. Especially Sundays are our visiting day. Recently, a pregnant poodle and a stray dog with hip fracture are left in front of the centre. “All that we want for them is not to kill those animals and bring them to us; we will take care of them”
