8th International Istanbul Open Chess Tournament Comes to an End with a Great Participation

The 8th International Istanbul Open Chess Tournament, organised by Fatih Municipality, Turkish Chess Federation, İstanbul Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) and TÜGEV, came to an end with great excitement.

The tournament was held between 26 August - 1 September 2023 at Fatih Municipality Atatürk Contemporary Life Sports Hall and Çapa Science High School. 1,350 players from 27 different countries participated in this prestigious tournament. The participants included a wide range of ages from 7 to 77, from master chess players to juniors, youngsters, women and seniors. In total, 54 titled master players competed in different categories. At the end of the tournament, the ranking players won trophies, medals and cash prizes. The award ceremony was held with the participation of our Mayor, Mr Mehmet Ergün Turan. This important chess event was another successful organisation to promote chess and encourage the sport. We thank the participants and the organisation team and look forward to the next tournament.
