Ali Pasha Fountain Restored

Ali Efendi Fountain, also known as Tavanlı Fountain, has been restored by Fatih Municipality.

Located at the intersection of Tavanlı Çeşme Street and Mehmet Paşa Camii Street in Hoca Gıyasettin Quarter, Ali Paşa Fountain is one of the historical buildings of the region. Built in 1813 by Ruznâmeci Ali Efendi, one of the remarkable characteristics of Tavanlı Çeşme is its structure with a square plan. The ornamental marble slab and inscription on its southern façade reflect the architecture of the period, while the round arch on its front façade adds an aesthetic touch to the fountain. Within the framework of a project approved by the Board, the cleaning and plastic repairs of the fountain have been successfully completed. In addition, the cement plasters on the fountain's reservoir and façade surfaces have been re-plastered with the original material and it has been reintroduced to water. While preserving its historical value, the Tavanlı Fountain continues to add beauty to its surroundings and meet the need for water.
