Ali Yazıcı Mosque Fountain Regained Water

In the scope of restoration works of Ali Yazıcı Mosque Fountain at Balat Neighborhood, integration and joint repairs were carried out on the façades, while original basin was repaired and cleaned using mechanical and chemical methods.

The fountain is located at Mürselpaşa Avenue façade of Ali Yazıcı Mosque. The mosque that has no epitaph is thought to be built with Ali Yazıcı Mosque that was built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet and repaired in the 19th Century. The wall fountain, built of cut stone in the classical style, has a pointed arch on the front and a rosette motif on both sides of the arch.

In the scope of restoration works, the fountain that remained below the road level up to the arch stirrup level was unearthed with a careful excavation. Stones were numbered and removed and relocated to escalate the fountain to road level. Integration and joint repairs were carried out on the façades. The original basin was repaired and cleaned using mechanical and chemical methods. The carved crown section above the pointed arch was continued and completed. Plumbing of the fountain was also completed and it regained water.
