Beşikçizade Fountain Regained Water!

One of the distinct and graceful fountains in Fatih, Beşikçizade Fountain regained water after repair and maintenance works.

Fountains that mirror our culture and carry us back to very distant periods from time to time, reflect our historic and cultural wealth. One of them, Beşikçizade Fountain is situated at Haseki Sultan Neighborhood, on Topçu Emin Bey Street, at the North wall of Beşikçizade Lodge. The lodge was established in the 18th Century by Beşikçizâde El-Hac Süleyman Effendi of Nakşibendiyye religious order. Its epitaph dated 1692-93 that is found in the sources but is not located in its place today suggests that the fountain had been built even earlier. The fountain has a reservoir and a single facade. It is cut stone braided. On both sides of the epitaph there are rosettes and it the fountain has a pointed arch. The fountain that remained below road level in time is accessed today with a few steps. The fountain that regained water thanks to efforts of Fatih Municipality was brought back to our cultural heritage.
