Çırakçı Street Fountain Restored
In the restoration of the Çırakçı Street Fountain in Yavuz Sultan Selim Neighbourhood, surface cleaning was carried out, joint repairs were completed, and the missing marble mirror stone was reproduced and replaced.
7 November 2024The fountain is located at the corner of Çırakçı Çeşmesi Street and Fodlacı Street. Since there is no inscription, there is no information about the date of construction and the builder. The fountain, which has a simple appearance, is built of cut stone and has a round arch and mirror stone on the front façade.
Within the scope of the restoration works, the fountain, which was under the ground level, was uncovered and raised to the ground level with a careful research excavation. Surface cleaning on the façade, integration and joint repairs were carried out in necessary areas, and the marble mirror stone, which had not survived to the present day, was reproduced and replaced. The unqualified repairs on the upper cover were removed and renovated with travertine stone cladding. The fountain, which was landscaped, was reintroduced to water.
