Conservation Works Conducted at Çınarlı Fountain
Çınarlı Fountain, one of the important fountains in Fatih district, has been renovated with preventive conservation works.
11 October 2023Fountains reflecting our historical and cultural heritage help us recall the past. Çınarlı Fountain, one of these remarkable structures, is located in front of the Blakhernai Walls at the end of the Esnaf Loncası Street in Ayvansaray Quarter. It is known by this name because of the plane tree in front of it, which has not survived to the present day. Since there is no inscription, there is no information about the date of construction and the name of the person who had it built. Right next to the fountain, there is a lodge masjid built in the 18th century by Şehit Ali Pasha, one of the grand viziers of Sultan Ahmed III, as an extraordinary mosque where the shrine of Abu Zerr al-Gifârî Hazrat, one of the great Sahabahs, is also located. The fountain, which reflects the architecture of the Classical Period, has a single façade and a pointed arch. The fountain's ornamental stone is made of marble. The fountain has been restored in Fatih by carrying out preventive conservation works.
