Çorbacı Fountain Restored

In the restoration of the Çorbacı Fountain in Balat Neighbourhood, plant and surface cleaning was carried out and damaged parts were repaired. The marble ornamental slab was cleaned and the missing basin and benches were reproduced in accordance with the original.

The fountain is located on Çorbacı Çeşmesi Street. Since there is no inscription, there is no information about the year of construction and the owner. Reflecting the architecture of the Classical Period, the fountain has a stone-brick masonry system and the front facade is cut stone.

As part of the restoration works, the part that remained under the road level over time was revealed by a careful excavation. The fountain, for which the plant and surface cleaning were performed, was cleared of unqualified interventions. Stone-brick integration and joint repairs were carried out in the damaged parts. The original marble ornamental slab was cleaned by mechanical and chemical methods. The basin and benches that could not reach the present day were rebuilt in accordance with the original. The fountain, whose top cover was renewed, was restored to its water by completing the installation works.
