Ebubekir Agha Fountain Regains its Water
Ebubekir Agha Fountain has been restored after the completion of maintenance and repair works.
11 December 2023Ebubekir Agha Fountain is located on Nişanca Street, Atikali Quarter, next to the Cemetery of Keskin Dede Masjid. It has an oval plan and a reservoir. In the literature, it is mentioned that the inscription consisting of three lines belongs to Sünbülzade Vehbi and it is understood from the inscription that it was built by Kapıcıbaşı Ebubekir Agha in 1793. The ornamental slab of the fountain, whose façade consists of two parts, marble and plastered, is framed with a profile and decorated with carving and relief.
The marble parts of the fountain: the missing parts including the wiping and seating benches have been repaired and the plastered surfaces have been renewed with the original material. Finally, the surfaces of the structure have been cleaned with chemical and mechanical methods, plastic repairs have been made, and non-original materials have been removed. Its inscription has been coloured and gilded with gold leaf and it has been restored to its water.
