FAI Drone Racing World Cup Türkiye Drone Race'24 held in Yedikule Fortress, famous for its legends, was both a first for Türkiye and a great source of excitement for drone racing enthusiasts. The event, organised with the support of Fatih Municipality, made history as the first international drone racing event in Türkiye. Organised by the Türkiye Air Sports Federation (THSF), Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) and Tech Drone League (TDL), this prestigious race combined modern technology with the atmosphere of the historical venue.
International Participation and Great Attention
Within the scope of the Drone Racing World Cup organised by FAI (International Air Sports Federation), 58 professional drone pilots from 11 different countries participated in this race held for the first time in Türkiye. In the race where Turkish and foreign pilots competed, pilots competed fiercely to gain points for FAI's worldwide ranking. Yedikule Fortress, where the race was held, hosted this international event and offered a pleasant atmosphere for both drone racers and technology enthusiasts.

In addition to the excitement of drone races, various stage programmes entertained the visitors throughout the event. The event started with live broadcasts of Radio D. Then, with the performance of DJ Emincan Külünk and the concert of the band ‘Cins’, the excitement of the race was combined with music. Visitors were entertained with DJ performances and performances of Fatih Municipality Band. The two-day race and event programme took place in the historical ambiance of Yedikule Fortress in a pleasant festival atmosphere.
Race Excitement and Award Ceremony
FAI Drone Racing World Cup Türkiye Drone Race'24 started with qualifying rounds in the morning. On the second day of the race, qualifying rounds and the grand final were held. The pilots demonstrated their speed and skills on challenging tracks and gave the audience moments full of adrenaline. Sharp bends, narrow passages and high-speed flights took the audience's breath away. In these special races called FPV (First Person View), pilots demonstrated their speed and manoeuvrability by controlling their drones from the first person point of view. The races concluded with an exciting finale and the pilots ranked the highest were presented their awards at the ceremony. The final round, where drones that can reach speeds of hundreds of kilometres in seconds competed, was full of fun for both pilots and spectators. The pilot, who came first in the final, won the grand prize by outperforming his other competitors with both his flying skills and his passion for speed.
Nazım Tüzün from Türkiye took the first place in the general classification and Arvin Schroeder from Germany took the second place. Atakan Mercimek from Türkiye took the third place and Youran Tian from China came fourth.
In the women's division, Nataliia Astakhova from Serbia won the first place. Dila Duru Beceren ranked second and Elif Beyza Cinar ranked third.

In addition to the races and award ceremony, visitors had the opportunity to spend time in various interactive areas throughout the event. Participants, who had flight experience in drone simulators, learnt about the fine details of drone technology. In addition, fun activities such as drone football and robot football attracted great interest in this organisation where technology and sports were presented together. The performances on the stage during the event also provided visitors with pleasant moments. DJ performances, concerts and performances of Fatih Municipality Band turned the excitement of the race into a fun festival atmosphere.
