Fatih Municipality became “Distinctive Municipality in Electronic Waste” of 2020

In 2020 Fatih Municipality adopted an environment friendly approach and transformed all old type lightings at all units of the municipality to LED lamps in order to ensure energy efficiency.

The resulting waste were included in efficient and sustainable water collection system. With this effort the Municipality was awarded by AGID (Lighting Equipment Manufacturers Association) that is the only institution authorized by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on management of waste electric and electronic appliances. AGİD assessed the “Distinctive Municipalities in Electronic Waste” for 2020 and among 72 municipalities that were assessed chose Fatih Municipality as the first in “Lighting Equipment – Waste Electric and Electronic Appliances” category as the municipality that contributed the most to system.
