Fatih Municipality was awarded the 'Collaboration of the Year' Award in Library Week

Opening program and award ceremony of the 58th Library Week, which was organized this year with the main theme of "There is Life in the Library", was held in Ankara Presidential Symphony Orchestra Historical Hall with the participation of Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, as well as librarians, researchers, academics, publishers, writers, local governments and professional associations. Awards in 12 categories were presented to individuals and institutions that have carried out valuable work in promoting the culture of reading and improving the habit of reading books and using the library. Fatih Municipality, which brought in 13 libraries in three years, was awarded in the category of "Collaboration of the Year".

In his speech at the ceremony, Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan, who was awarded the "Collaboration of the Year" award in the field of libraries, stated that every work realized for young people is very valuable and added: “Fatih, the heart of Istanbul, is a land of libraries. It has embraced many hâfız-ı kütübs (librarians) from Ali Emiri to İbnülemin Mahmud Kemal. These enormous wealth of information, created by their efforts and carried to this day, still illuminates our path. We always commemorate the masters who paved this bright path ahead with a feeling of gratitude and appreciation, and we try to keep this very precious memory we have alive. We are designing the libraries we have established in Fatih with this feeling and consciousness and with the aim of cultivating the fruits of the future. Young people are our most important target group in our education and cultural investments. Because dreaming suits young people, young souls the most. Whatever we do is not enough for our young people who dream, worry, think freely, write and produce for this country. We have established all our libraries with the dream and belief of such a generation. The number of our libraries, which we have carefully built and equipped with the comfort of a warm home, has reached 13 in three years. Our libraries have a total capacity of 1800 users and 143 thousand books. The number of students entering our libraries in a month is over 120 thousand. I believe that we have created an ideal model with high brand value, with the peaceful environment and working comfort we provide to users in our libraries.”
