Golden Ant Award to Fatih Municipality

At Golden Ant Municipality Awards that is organized for the 7th time this year, Fatih Municipality received an award with its an Orchestra for Every School Project. In the ceremony Fatih Mayor received the award from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Chairman of Marmara Municipalities Union, Mevlüt Uysal.

Organized by Marmara Municipalities Union in order to award successful efforts in area of municipality and encourage new projects for the 7th time this year, the Golden Ant Municipality Awards was given to recipients. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Chairman of Marmara Municipalities Union, Mevlüt Uysal attended the award ceremony together with mayor of member municipalities, and many representatives of local administrations. The ceremony was organized to support cooperation between local governments, recognize successful projects and encourage new activities and outstanding projects that were started or completed in 2015 or 2016 were awarded. Awards are given in disaster managements, culture and arts, transportation, sustainable environment management, corporate development, social municipality, urban infrastructure, urban technologies, local development and cooperation categories where Fatih Municipality was also awarded. Fatih Municipality was awarded in Culture and Arts category with its an Orchestra for Every School Project and Fatih Mayor received the award from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Chairman of Marmara Municipalities Union, Mevlüt Uysal. With the project that was started in Fatih, many students that study in the municipality learn how to play musical instruments. Currently, in the project that was started in 25 schools in the municipality, volunteer students that are interested in music are given trainings covered by the municipality together with instruments. In the scope of the project it is planned to establish ‘Fatih Municipality Symphony Orchestra’ in time.

Wish We Would Hear an Instrument Sound from Every House in Fatih

Fatih Mayor said that they are proud to receive an award at Golden Ant Municipality Awards where numerous projects are assessed and said that: “It is our musicians that deserve the award here. Our target at an Orchestra for Every School Project is to create a music class at every school and support at least 25 students in these classes with instruments and trainers. Our main target is to train students as much as they can form a chamber orchestra at every school. Until now, this was realized in 25 schools. Our aim is to realize this project at all schools. I can see that students display a major effort on this project together with studying for their classes. I wish we would hear an instrument sound from every house in Fatih. God willing, we would realize that.”
