Grand Vizier Ali Pasha Fountain Regained Water
Basin and flooring that remained below road level were carefully unearthed with a meticulous excavation and missing parts are completed in restoration of Grand Vizier Ali Pasha Fountain at Balat Neighborhood.
16 October 2024The fountain is at Köroğlu Street. Because it has no epitaph, there is no information about its year of construction or its patron. Known as Grand Vizier Ali Pasha Fountain, this fountain has architectural characteristics of Late Ottoman era. Façade of the fountain on embankment wall is completely covered with marble. Cover of the fountain's reservoir is at the same height compatible with the façade.
The upper part of the fountain is supported with buttresses that extend out. Its faucet and top are placed in an arch with oriental style that end with a tulip design. There are plasters on both sides of the façade and reliefs on the console at the upper part.
The original basin and floor covering that remined below road level were unearthed with a meticulous research excavation in the scope of restoration works and missing parts are completed. Plant and surface cleaning of the fountain was conducted and unqualified interventions were removed following which mechanical and chemical cleaning were made. Upper cover of the fountain was repaired and after landscaping works, the fountain regained water.
