Gürcü Mehmet Pasha Fountain Restored and Supplied with Water

Fatih Municipality continues to contribute to its cultural heritage riches. The restored Gürcü Mehmet Pasha Fountain was ordered to be constructed by the Grand Vizier Gürcü Mehmet Pasha in the years of 1625-26. The fountain has a reservoir and its front side has a pointed arch. It was built of cut stone and remained below the road level over time. The fountain, whose basin section was exposed after cleaning, grouting and completion works, is now accessible by steps. The fountain has been supplied with water once again after several years under the leadership of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage.
