Hacı Piri Street Fountain Regained Water
In the scope of restoration of Hacı Piri Street Fountain at Yedikule Neighborhood, the non-original cement-based mesh on the façades of the fountain was removed and rebuilt with original materials and mortar.
26 August 2024The Fountain is located on Hacı Piri Street, across Hacı Piri M. Efendi Mosque (Stork’s Nest Mosque). Because it has to epitaph, there is no information on its date of construction and patron. The fountain bears the classical style characteristics of the Ottoman period and has a bowl and a simple appearance. There are two bowl slots located within its pointed arch.
In the scope of restoration, excavation of the fountain that remained below road level uncovered its basin and foundations. The non-original cement-based mesh on the façades of the fountain was removed and rebuilt with original materials and mortar. Following landscaping, plumbing was connected to the fountain to ensure waterflow.
