Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha Complex Gate Restored
Within the scope of the restoration works, Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha Complex Gate has been cleaned and repaired by using original materials in the areas where there are material losses.
28 November 2023Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha Complex Gate is located at the intersection of Koca Mustafapaşa Street and Alipaşa Camii Avlusu Street in Cerrahpaşa Quarter. It is approximately 100 metres away from the mosque courtyard and is independent from the surrounding walls. Built by Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha, one of the grand viziers of Mahmud I, in 1734-35, the architects of the complex were Çuhadar Ömer Agha and Hacı Mustafa Agha. The gate of the complex is massive and has a monumental appearance. The passage opening of the cut stone-built gate is formed with a flat arched facade design. Its inscription is made of marble and the poet is Enderunlu Servet Osman Efendi. Within the scope of the restoration, the surface of the gate has been cleaned with mechanical and chemical methods, and the areas where material losses are intense have been restored with the original material. Due to the static problems, the gate has been removed from the arch level and rebuilt with the available material following the necessary interventions.
