Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha Fountain Restored

Hekimoğlu Ali Paşa Fountain is located in Molla Fenari Quarter and to the south of Atik Ali Paşa Mosque. Commissioned to be built by Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha in 1754-55, the fountain was constructed with a single facade of cut stone in an elevated form between the walls of the mosque. It was determined from the archive photographs that it was repaired several times and changes were made in its form. It is separated from the side mesh with column-like plasters starting from the basin level and extending to the upper eaves, and it has an ornamental slab made of marble in the centre and a four-line inscription. With the repair works, the stone mesh on the front façade, which also has losses on the surface, was carefully cleaned and cosmetic repairs were made in the areas deemed necessary. In addition, non-original cement plasters on the rear façade of the fountain were removed and the repaired wall was re-plastered with the original material.
