In the Footsteps of History: Fatih Municipality Restores Camcı Fountain

Fatih Municipality took another step towards conserving the footsteps of the past by restoring the historical fountain in Balat Quarter with its original details reflecting the classical architecture of the period.

Fatih Municipality Cultural Heritage Directorate completed the restoration works of the historical fountain that has survived from the past to present day. This fountain, located in Balat Quarter, on Camcı Fountain Slope, opposite Cafer Subaşı Mosque, does not contain information about the date of its construction and the person who had it built due to the lack of an inscription. During the restoration process, the works on the fountain were carried out with utmost diligence. The fountain, which has a single façade and pointed arch, was restored in a way to preserve the characteristic features of the classical architecture of the period. The ornamental slab of the fountain, which attracts attention with its cut stone patterns, was reconstructed using marble, the sections damaged over time were meticulously restored using original materials, and the fountain was cleaned and its elevation was rearranged.
