July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Activity was Organized at Saraçhane Park with Participation of Governor Gül and Mayor Başkan Turan
July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day event that was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan, Fatih District Governor Cafer Sarılı, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, IMM AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Zeynel Abidin Okul, Baykar's Chief Technology Officer Selçuk Bayraktar and Member of the high Advisory Board of TÜGVA Bilal Erdoğan was organized at Saraçhane Park. Mayor Turan emphasized the enthusiastic crowd that filled out streets of Fatih with flags.
16 July 2024Organized by Fatih Municipality with cooperation of Istanbul Governor's office, July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day event was organized at Saraçhane Park. During the event that important figures including Istanbul Governor Mr. Davut Gül, Fatih Mayor Mr. M. Ergün Turan, Fatih District Governor Mr. Cafer Sarılı, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Mr. Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, IMM AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Mr. Zeynel Abidin Okul, Baykar's Chief Technology Officer Mr. Selçuk Bayraktar and Member of the high Advisory Board of TÜGVA Mr. Bilal Erdoğan participated in, families of martyrs and veterans walked to Saraçhane from Fatih Mosque accompanied with citizens. Speeches emphasized national unity and solidarity spirit of July 15.
The program started in the morning with the get together at Fatih Mosque. The crowd accompanied by the Janissary Band started marching towards Anıtpark. The march crowned with anthems and slogans revived the resistance spirit of July 15. The activity continued with the ceremony organized at Anıtpark.
In the ceremony at Anıtpark the concerts of the janissary band and Ayasofya Hafız Community collected great attention. Enthusiastic anthems of the janissary band and hymns and eulogies of Ayasofya Hafız Community touched the participants. Also knelling and praying for martyrs of July 15 were a part of the organization.
Drawing attention to the significance of July 15 in fight of Turkish nation for independence and democracy, Governor Gül said: “July 15 was recorded in history as the day when the unity and solidarity of our nation was displayed in the strongest way. We are here today to sustain this spirit and transfer it to the next generation.” Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan emphasized resistance of Fatih district on July 15 and said: “Fatih took its gloried place in history with its heroisms on the night of July 15. Today we are here to remember that heroisms and never to forget. Also, Erkan Pala, İbrahim Yılmaz, Ömer Cankatar, Tolga Ecebalın, and Yunus Emre Ezer are 5 heroes from Fatih who sacrificed their lives while resisting against the FETÖ’ist traitors on the night of July 15. They fought heroically just like our 246 good citizens who became martyrs all across our country. Just like how we did under wisdom and leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that night, today we stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder and cried out our love of our country with our countrymen. We will always carry the spirit of July 15.”
The event received high attention of residents of Istanbul and was held in the spirit of unity and solidarity. At the end of the program, all participants prayed together, commemorated the martyrs and once again showed their commitment to democracy. The event continued with various events and concerts throughout the night.
