Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System and the Next Generation Transportation Project will be completed in the First Quarter of 2023

Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ak Party (Justice and Development Party) Istanbul Deputy Mustafa Demir, Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan and the accompanying delegation visited the construction site within the scope of Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System and Pedestrian Oriented Next Generation Transportation Project and received information about the progress of the project.

The operations within the scope of Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System and Pedestrian Oriented next generation transportation project, which is being built by Fatih Municipality in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and is extremely important for Istanbul, continue at full speed.

‘The Project will be completed in the First Quarter of 2023’

Expressing that they are proud and happy to bring another important work to Istanbul, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they will complete the project in the first quarter of 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic, and put it into the service of the citizens.

‘With This Project, We will provide a Fast, Comfortable, Environmentally Friendly and Hybrid Transportation Facility to the People of Istanbul.’

Minister Karaismailoğlu said: ‘The Next Generation Transportation Project is a project that is integrated with Marmaray and has 8 stops. In this context, we are making improvements and new arrangements on the 8.3 kilometer line, which is inactive between Sirkeci and Kazlıçeşme in its current state. In this new concept, the route will be both a railway and walking track. In other words, we are talking about an environmentally friendly railway line. Within the scope of the project, there are a 7.3 kilometers of pedestrian path, a 6.3 kilometers of bicycle path, 10 thousand 120 square meters of square and recreational area, a 74 thousand square meters of new green area, a 6 thousand square meters of indoor social and cultural venue, 9 pedestrian underpasses, 3 pedestrian overpasses, 1 road overpass, 12 road underpasses and 2 pedestrian overpasses that will be relocated. With this project, we will provide a fast, comfortable, environmentally friendly and hybrid transportation facility to the people of Istanbul, as well as bicycle and scooter riding areas, sports and excursion areas.’

‘It will be a Significant Destination for Tourism’

In addition, Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan said: ‘This project will be a very important recreation area and a socialization area for Istanbul and Fatih and it will be a significant destination for tourism.’ Following the speeches, Minister Karaismailoğlu, Ak Party (Justice and Development Party) Istanbul Deputy Mustafa Demir, Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan and the accompanying delegation walked from Yedikule to Sirkeci and examined the work carried out on site.
