Mayor Turan is in Earthquake Zone

Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan visited the earthquake zone to share the suffering of the earthquake victims and to inspect the aid and works on site.

Fatih Municipality, as of the first day of the disaster of the century, started a massive aid mobilisation in the district and dispatched 42 trucks of aid materials and 108 personnel to the region, including 25 construction machinery and 37 members of the FARK team. At the weekend, Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan also travelled to the earthquake zone in order to share the sorrow of the earthquake victims and to inspect the works on site. Making a statement about his visit, Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan said, "We visited Hatay, İskenderun, Antakya and Kırıkhan where the earthquake inflicted deep scars. Finally, we arrived in Elbistan. Here, our municipality has a logistics warehouse since the second day of the earthquake. We are in the biggest tent city constructed by our state in Elbistan. By Allah's grace, more than 700 tents have been set up here. Our municipalities, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency), the Turkish Red Crescent, all state institutions and non-governmental organisations are in the region. There is a level of solidarity that brings tears to one's eyes. Psycho-social support specialists from the Ministry of National Education from all over Türkiye are here. I hope that we will overcome this whole period together".

CITIZENS THANKED THE FARK TEAM FOR THEIR EFFORTS

Coming together with the citizens in Hatay, Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan also consulted with the Fatih Disaster Search and Rescue (FARK) teams who provided tremendous support to the search and rescue operations. Citizens stated that the FARK team made great sacrifices as of the first day and said, "They made all the efforts they possibly could. They could only help so much. We thank them all for their efforts," and expressed their gratitude to the FARK team and Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan for their support.
