24 June 2024There are two fountains on the northwest and south walls of the courtyard of Nişancı Mehmet Pasha Mosque. The mosque was built in 1475 by the last Grand Vizier of Fatih, Old Nişancı Karamanlı Mehmet Pasha. The fountain on the south courtyard wall has no inscription and it is thought that it was built together with the mosque. The fountain is a wall fountain built in the classical period style.
Within the scope of the restoration works, cement-based unqualified modifications on the fountain surfaces were carefully scraped off and plastic repairs were made with original materials. Cleaning works were completed on the marble mirror stone and the fountain's basin, which was cleaned of plants. The fountain, whose installation was renewed, was restored and reintroduced to water.
