Restoration Works of Bâlâ Süleyman Aga Complex Completed
The restoration works of Bâlâ Süleyman Ağa Complex, which offers a unique scenery to its visitors with its colours, engravings and embroideries, have been completed and opened for use.
11 October 2023The modest mosque, which was built by Topçubaşı Bâlâ Süleyman Ağa from Ni'mel Ceyş (a soldier who participated in the conquest of Istanbul and was martyred) immediately after the conquest of Istanbul, was restored by adding a fountain, muvakkithane (time-keeping house), fountain and school units during the repairs in the 19th century. One of the most remarkable units of the complex is the fountain and muvakkithane section, which exhibits the characteristics of a single building under the same roof. On the central axis of the façade facing Tekke Maslağı Street, there is a fountain constructed in baroque style and three ablution taps on both sides. At both ends of the building, there is an entrance and marble-covered half-hexagonal overhangs. The building is waiting for its visitors after the restoration works carried out by Fatih Municipality.
