Sekban-ı Ali Fountain Restored with Water

Sekban-ı Ali Fountain in Fatih brings the traces of the past to the present day with the restoration works carried out by Fatih Municipality.

Fatih Municipality Cultural Heritage Directorate continues its efforts to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of the region. In this context, Sekban-ı Ali Fountain, located at the corner of Nureddin Tekkesi Street and Fevzipaşa Street in Fatih's Dervişali Quarter, has been revived with restoration works. Built by Ali Pasha in 1565-66, the fountain, which has a square plan and a single facade, is decorated with rosette motifs and segmented arches. The ornamental slab and the basin stone of the fountain, which stands out with its cut stone masonry, are made of marble. Although some lines of the six-line inscription of the fountain have not survived to the present day, this section has been completed by processing the marble frames. Within the scope of the restoration works carried out by Fatih Municipality, the fountain has been cleaned and the fountain, which was below the elevation, has been exposed and restored with water.
