Sevgi Street Fountain is Flowing Once Again

Necessary modifications have been made to the Sevgi Street Fountain located in Nişanca Quarter and poor quality materials have been removed. In addition, stone-brick integration and joint repairs were performed in the sections with missing parts of the alternating masonry.

The fountain is located on Sevgi Street in Nişanca Quarter, where the Armenian Patriarchate and the Kumkapı Meryemana Armenian Church are also located. Since there is no inscription, there is no information about the date of construction and the person who commissioned the fountain. It is known that the fountain has a rectangular plan and a reservoir.

In line with the projects authorized by the Preservation Board, the additions and poor quality materials have been removed from the fountain, stone-brick integration and joint repairs have been made in the sections missing in the alternating masonry. The fountain, which was used as a shelter for a long time, was cleared of any unauthorized occupation and restored to its original appearance and water.
