Uncu Hafiz Halil Madrasah is being restored and transformed into an Educational Workshop

Fatih Municipality is restoring the historically significant Uncu Hafız Halil Madrasah and bringing it back to the present day as an educational workshop.

The madrasah located in Akşemsettin Quarter was endowed in order to keep the madrasah tradition alive from the past to the present and to transfer these values to future generations. The only room of the madrasah that has survived to the present day and the remains of the foundation unearthed through excavations will be taken under protection in line with modern conservation principles and will be restored in accordance with today's educational concept and will be brought to life as "Uncu Hafız Halil Madrasah Educational Workshop". Within the scope of the project, the ground floor of the building will be used as an exhibition area and the remains of the madrasah will be preserved with glass floors and exhibited to visitors. At the same time, the only room that has survived will be restored and used as an informative area explaining the history and significance of the madrasah. In addition, the mezzanine, 1st floor and 2nd floors will be designed as educational units. The madrasah building, which has a total construction area of 1128 m2, will be arranged in accordance with modern educational needs and will be turned into a learning centre where the past and the present come together. The re-functioning of Uncu Hafız Halil Madrasah in this way will contribute to the passing on the love of history and education to future generations.
