Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors Have Started Working

The Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors Project, implemented by Fatih Municipality for the 12th time this year, have started its activities with a special program held in Sultanahmet Square. The program hosted by Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan was attended by Istanbul Deputy Halis Dalkılıç, Istanbul Culture Director Dr. Coşkun Yılmaz, TÜGEV Vice President Bahadır Yaşık and 350 Tourism Ambassadors who will operate in the field. In his speech at the opening, President M. Ergün Turan said: “I believe that everyone living in Fatih, especially our young people, should know and get familiar with Istanbul very well, since it is located at the very center of the most valuable historical, cultural and religious tourism route in the world. As Fatih Municipality, we have maintained the volunteering project for years, which we started with the aim of raising our young people with awareness of the values of our city, especially its tourism potential. I am sure that the efforts of our Tourism Ambassadors provide contribution to our tourism potential. I have no doubt that our young people will promote our Fatih in the best way in regions where tourism is most intense, especially in Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Divanyolu, Grand Bazaar and Eminönü. I greet all of them with wholeheartedly and wish them success.”

In addition to ensuring the satisfaction of the tourists visiting Fatih thanks to the Volunteer Tourism Ambassador Project, the young people who take part in the project voluntarily are also offered the opportunity to socialize, practice their foreign languages skills, and meet people from all over the world who come to our city. Our 350 Tourism Ambassadors, aged between 16 and 30, who were selected as a result of the written exams and oral interviews and were entitled to take part in the project, provide free guidance services to tourists in various languages in Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Divanyolu, Grand Bazaar and Eminönü regions. At the end of the project, a certificate of participation is presented to the young people who serve with t-shirts with the statement "Ask Me" in various languages.
