Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors in the Field for the 13th Time!

Fatih Mayor M. Ergün Turan attended the opening programme of Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors, which was organised for the 13th time this year. In the project organised with the support of the İstanbul Chamber of Commerce, the ambassadors will guide tourists from all over the world in Gülhane, Eminönü, Divanyolu, Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia and Beyazıt for a month.

As last year, 1500 applications were made to the project, which attracted great interest this year, and 600 people who successfully passed the written examination were entitled to participate in the oral interview. After the oral interview, 400 people were accepted to the project. Within the scope of the project, 1 coordinator, 6 supervisors and 400 ambassadors will be assigned. Tourists will be guided at 6 points (Gülhane, Eminönü, Divanyolu, Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia and Beyazıt) in 9 different languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese). Fatih Municipality will cover the transport, food and water expenses of the ambassadors and will provide t-shirts and hats for the participants to wear throughout the project. At the end of the project, a special boat tour will be organised and certificates will be presented to those who have successfully completed 30 days. Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors Project has entered its 13th year as an important social responsibility project aiming to carry the cultural heritage of the district to the world.
