Yahyazade Ahmet Efendi Fountain Regained Water
In restoration of Yahyazade Ahmet Efendi Fountain in Dervişali Neighborhood its missing stones and bricks were repaired using authentic material. The concrete apron was carefully removed and covered with natural stone.
4 September 2024The Fountain is located in Dervişali Neighborhood, at the corner of Yahyazade Street and Sarayağa Avenue. The fountain was built by Feyzullah Effendi in 1715-1716 upon will of his father Yahyazade Ahmed Effendi who served as the judge of Mecca and Istanbul and was constructed by Lady Hâce Atiyye in 1904. The fountain was constructed with an alternating masonry system. On the front façade of the fountain there are two epigraphs on marble describing construction and repair.
Surfaces of the fountain with dense vegetation and which were subject to unqualified interventions were cleaned using appropriate methods. Losses on the stone and brick surfaces were completed using original materials. The upper part, which was covered with a reinforced concrete apron, was carefully removed and re-covered with natural stone. As a result of our research, the construction epigraph in the Turkish Construction and Artworks Museum was completed, gilded and mounted in its original place. The marble basin, which did not survive to the present day, was remanufactured and regained tap water.
